The Michigan Lottery announced on Thursday that a man from Wayne County, opting for anonymity, captured the first top prize in the well-known instant game, VIP Cashword.

The fortunate lottery enthusiast bought his winning ticket at a Marathon gas station located at 22063 Ryan Road in Warren.

This purchase occurred the day prior to the playoff clash between the Lions and the Washington Commanders last month.
Although he was disappointed by the Lions’ loss in the playoff game, his spirits were lifted when he scratched off the ticket, revealing a delightful $500,000 prize.

In a conversation with a lottery official, the Wayne County winner expressed, ‘Everyone knows how the Lions game ended, but discovering that I had won $500,000 certainly eased the disappointment!’

He further commented that the win still felt surreal, but he was thrilled about the opportunity to assist his family and save some money for himself.

While the Wayne County winner recently visited the lottery headquarters to collect his substantial prize, he remained tight-lipped about specific plans for the winnings, aside from hinting at saving some and supporting his family.

Two More Top Prizes Await Claimants in VIP Cashword

Last October, the Michigan Lottery introduced the VIP Cashword game.

This recent $500,000 victory marked the first top prize of the game, with two more still available for claim.
The game also features a tier-two prize of $1,000, with 34 out of the initial 48 such prizes still in play.
Each ticket is priced at $10, offering a wide array of prizes ranging from $10 up to the grand prize of $500,000.
The chances of winning any prize in the VIP Cashword instant game stand at 1 in 3.47.
