- BetBlocker has now been introduced in French, making it available in 20 different languages.
- This new version makes it accessible to over 34 million gamblers who can now utilize the app.
- Plans for expanding into other markets and languages, particularly in Africa, are still underway.
BetBlocker, an internationally renowned charity dedicated to promoting safer gambling practices and empowering individuals to resist excessive gambling, has unveiled its latest localized version, this time in French.
French Marks the 20th Language Supported by BetBlocker
The introduction of the BetBlocker app in France is timely, as the nation grapples with potential legislative changes that could broaden the scope of gambling. BetBlocker has consistently emphasized the importance of providing responsible gambling and self-exclusion services in the native languages of players.
In the United Kingdom, for instance, the app launched in several Eastern European languages, recognizing that some immigrants, despite residing in the UK, might not fully benefit from resources available only in English.
BetBlocker has also introduced a regional version in Catalan, marking another pioneering step, and has expanded into the US charity market. With the addition of French, the app now offers 20 localized language versions.
According to the charity, there are approximately 34 million gamblers in France, and their protection is crucial. Duncan Garvie, Founder and Trustee of BetBlocker, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of the new app version, making it accessible to French-speaking countries and regions.
‘I’m really pleased to open up BetBlocker to French-speaking communities. With the recent launch of the US arm of our charity, raising our profile in North America is a strategic priority. This launch helps us support our French Canadian friends,’ Garvie said.
He also expressed his eagerness to extend BetBlocker’s reach into Africa, where emerging markets could benefit from such a vital tool to safeguard local populations.
‘I want to personally thank Xavi D. and Christina Theophilos for their tireless work supporting us to deliver this translation. BetBlocker could not have done this without them,’ Garvie concluded.
BetBlocker Advances Support for Gambling Research and Expands into New Markets
Recently, Garvie conducted a poll on a professional networking platform, asking his followers whether BetBlocker should introduce a small user fee. The majority of respondents, totaling 56 votes, believed the app should remain free (86%), while 14% saw merit in generating additional revenue.
BetBlocker has relied on a diverse range of third-party funding to drive the launch of new language versions, enabling it to reach more consumers and assist those struggling with compulsive gambling. BetBlocker has played a pivotal role in addressing this issue.
Most recently, BetBlocker launched a Portuguese version of the app and appointed two more Trustees, who have been instrumental in the charity’s success. The organization also established its US charity earlier this year and has further expanded into evidence-based research by providing funding to the UNLV’s International Gaming Institute.
