BetBlocker has released the newest iteration of its self-exclusion tool, now available in Japanese, expanding its reach to an even larger audience. This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to empowering local communities by offering a way to self-exclude from gambling anonymously and for free, while also providing assistance in their native language.

BetBlocker Introduces Japanese Version of Its Software

In its ongoing mission to make the tool accessible in as many languages as possible, BetBlocker has recently added Japanese to its roster of localized support services, following the introduction of French and Catalan. This development marks a significant milestone, potentially reaching 123 million Japanese speakers who were involved in gambling activities in 2019, as per the organization’s data.

The organization highlights that approximately 4.4 million individuals in Japan are affected by gambling-related issues.

BetBlocker has collaborated with both private and public entities to develop more versions of its tool. For the Japanese launch, the company expressed special gratitude to Kenta Shintani for his philanthropic contributions.

With this release, BetBlocker is optimistic about positively impacting the lives of many Japanese citizens. Duncan Garvie, the founder and trustee of BetBlocker, praised this new achievement, pointing to the increasing momentum and multiple language translations accomplished in recent months.

‘BetBlocker has successfully translated its services into numerous languages and has notably sped up the rollout of new language support over the past six months. However, most of our efforts have concentrated on languages originating from Europe.’

BetBlocker has been receiving support from civic-minded individuals like Shintani and others who have provided valuable resources, aligning with the charity’s ultimate goal of making the tool accessible to everyone who may need to moderate their gambling activities while using resources in their native language.

Previously, BetBlocker launched its tool in Italy with the support of a private individual, Francesco Casartelli, a Safer Gambling Analyst.

BetBlocker’s Efforts to Tackle Problem Gambling Beyond Exclusion

BetBlocker continues its expansion, making a significant advancement with the introduction of its version for the United States market in early March, coinciding with Problem Gambling Awareness Month, an annual initiative.

The organization has also partnered with the University of Nevada Las Vegas and its International Gaming Institute to back research programs and provide a more evidence-based approach to addressing issues related to addiction and gambling problems, moving beyond anecdotal evidence.

Recently, BetBlocker appointed John Wright and Darrell Helyar to its Board of Trustees, recognizing both as key contributors to the charity’s success.
