Incident Unveils Hidden Gambling Operation

An investigation into an assault and potential kidnapping at an arcade in Charlotte, North Carolina, led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizing of unlawful gambling machines.

Numerous Gambling Machines Discovered at a Charlotte Arcade

Earlier this week, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) shed light on an operation that unfolded at a local arcade. This operation unveiled numerous illegal gambling machines.

  • The CMPD was alerted to a situation involving an assault and a possible kidnapping at a local arcade.
  • Upon investigating the report, authorities stumbled upon an illicit gambling establishment housing over 50 machines.
  • In addition to confiscating cash and the illegal gambling apparatus, law enforcement officials discovered three firearms.

Initially, police responded to a report concerning an assault and potential kidnapping. However, upon reaching the location of Lucky Seven Arcade at 5105 Reagan Dr., authorities uncovered illegal gambling devices.

The CMPD sought assistance from its Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Unit, which determined that the gambling machines at the facility were operating unlawfully, thereby breaching the state’s gambling regulations.

A statement from the CMPD articulated: ‘Officers noticed illegal gaming machines inside the premises and, with support from CMPD’s Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Unit, an investigation revealed that the gaming machines at Lucky Seven Arcade were in violation of North Carolina gambling laws.’

Arrests and Charges of Suspects

Law enforcement officials unearthed and seized a total of 55 illegal gambling stations at the arcade.

  • Approximately $24,000 in US currency, alongside electronic equipment and other devices necessary for the operation of the illegal casino, were also confiscated.
  • In addition to the illegal gambling machines and cash, CMPD uncovered and seized three firearms.

The operation culminated in the arrest of two arcade employees, as reported by the police. The two individuals are facing both felony and misdemeanor charges related to gambling.

The CMPD emphasized their commitment to public safety by stating, ‘CMPD remains dedicated to safeguarding public safety by investigating and dismantling illegal gambling operations that often pose a risk to the surrounding community.’

Police have not confirmed if there are additional suspects linked to the illegal gambling enterprise.
