MGM Resorts and BetMGM Bolster Responsible Gambling Initiatives

One of the foremost entertainment giants on a global scale, specializing in both the casino and hospitality sectors, MGM Resorts International, has unveiled a suite of initiatives just before March, which is recognized as Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

In recent developments, the company, in collaboration with its joint venture, BetMGM, has declared its intent to bolster its responsible gambling initiatives. These efforts are aimed at enhancing safeguards for gamblers against potential harm.

Enhancing Responsible Gambling Efforts

Importantly, MGM Resorts has announced a contribution of $180,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute. This funding is directed towards studying the implications of sports betting across various demographic groups.

  • This generous donation will aid in the crafting of strategies for responsible gambling.
  • Simultaneously, BetMGM, the joint venture equally shared between MGM Resorts and Entain, is set to expand its Kindbridge Behavioral Health referral program on a nationwide scale.

This responsible gambling initiative ensures that customers in areas where BetMGM is operational have access to specialized mental health services provided by Kindbridge. These services are crucial for supporting individuals affected by gambling risks or issues, underscoring the company’s commitment to responsible gambling.

Additional initiatives revealed by BetMGM and MGM Resorts involve the expansion of responsible gambling messaging through GameSense.

GameSense, a responsible gambling program devised and licensed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation in 2017, was later adopted by BetMGM. The latest measures from the duo will amplify GameSense’s messages, reminding gamblers nationwide of their options to take temporary breaks from gambling while also providing them with responsible gambling advice and resources.

Another initiative from BetMGM and MGM Resorts includes engaging with Gaming Law students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

These efforts are anticipated to enhance the long-term viability of the gambling industry, while simultaneously improving the experiences of BetMGM customers and MGM Resorts guests.

  • Among the further measures is a $60,000 donation by MGM Resorts to the State Councils on Problem Gambling.
  • A renewed agreement between BetMGM and EPIC Global Solutions, a reputable consultancy specializing in problem gambling education.

Excitement and Commitment from MGM Resorts and BetMGM

Stephen Martino, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts, shared his insights on the matter.

‘As a leader in global gaming and hospitality, we are continuously seeking to support research that can drive positive changes,’ he stated.

Martino further highlighted, ‘As our company expands both domestically and internationally, these studies will enable us to support the industry and enhance the sustainability of the communities we serve.’

Rhea Loney, Chief Compliance Officer at BetMGM, also emphasized the significance of responsible gambling for the organization.

‘Responsible gaming is a cornerstone of our operations, and we are dedicated to investing in programs that foster player protection and well-being,’ she expressed.

Regarding the collaboration with Kindbridge Behavioral Health, Loney mentioned, ‘Extending our partnership with Kindbridge ensures that essential support services are always accessible to those in need.’
